I had the privilege of meeting yesterday with the Centershot participants and their families.  Centershot is an archery ministry that has been developed for children, youth, and families.  We had 66 participants in Centershot I and II this past 8 weeks.  The tournament and celebration was an awesome way of concluding our spring class.

I was asked to share a devotion with the group.  One of the experiences that i have had in shooting a bow is developing my anchor point.  To move from mediocre accuracy and consistency is to discover the best anchor point and repeatedly go to that point and hold each time.  The anchor point in archery is the place in which you come to full draw and hold anchoring your right hand (if  right-handed) is the place that will maximize your draw length and give you excellent consistency.

What is the anchor point for your life?  Who enables you to live beyond the level of mediocrity and inconsistency?  Upon what or whom are you building your life?  An anchor point is about choosing the correct place.  We all have the choice to make concerning our life’s anchor point.  We can look in various places and place our anchor point in things, but my experience reveals that life is inconsistent and lacks the pinpoint accuracy needed to hit the mark of a vital life.

My anchor point is Jesus Christ!  He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.  Jesus is the solid rock upon which i can build my life and He gives me the anchor that holds me in the midst of any condition or circumstance.  Joshua, when speaking to the Israelites about whether or not Yahweh, the God of Israel, would be served said this, “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord”.  Joshua had his anchor point!  How about you, do you have an anchor point for your life that brings you fulfillment, grace, forgiveness, hope, unconditional love, new beginnings, a solid rock upon which to build your life?  I suggest you give Jesus a try!  He will anchor your life!

Shalom
